Our MD Claire will be giving a presentation at the West Berkshire Buzz Connect networking meeting on Thursday 19th August, focusing on why your business should be prioritising Social Goodness.
Social Goodness is a mega trend that encapsulates a lot of the shifts we see happening around us, including the rise in allyship, the prioritisation of human marketing, ethical investment, and the shift towards sustainability. It is the most important shift in business thinking for a generation.
In her book Social Goodness, Claire Burdett forensically dissects the trend of people’s expectations that companies behave well. She looks at how brands can only thrive by embedding social goodness into their DNA, prioritising people and the planet over huge profits, and giving back to society rather than always take-take-take.
Social Goodness is also one of the reasons businesses become invisible online, because when people don’t care about your brand they ignore your updates. When people ignore updates, the social media algorithms learn that they aren’t interested and stop showing your posts to that audience, and eventually to everyone, which then negatively damages your Google ranking (SEO).
And that’s before someone finds out something you were hoping to keep hidden, and then calls you out online for being inauthentic, lying, behaving badly or ‘woke washing’, thus creating a damaging social media reputational crisis.
Embedding Social Goodness is how you, as a business leader, create a win-win presence online externally and internally that is driven by respect and wins affection from your clients to create business visibility, longevity, and success.
Turns out good business really is GOOD business.
